Five things Google Search Console will tell you that Analytics won't
Everyone lives in Google Analytics and ignores Search Console, which is exactly backwards. Analytics tells you what people did once they arrived. Search Console tells you what Google did with you in the first place, the half of the funnel Analytics literally cannot see. Here are five things only Search Console will ever tell you.
Which queries actually surface your pages
Search Console shows the exact keywords Google ranks your pages for and how often each appears in search results. Analytics shows you visitors after they click. Search Console covers the much larger pool of people who saw your link but never clicked.
Click-through rate per query
Position 4 with a 12% CTR is more valuable than position 2 with a 3% CTR. Search Console shows which titles and meta descriptions pull clicks; Analytics treats every visit identically once it arrives.
Index coverage problems
If Google cannot crawl a page, Analytics will never report a visit to it. Search Console flags the page as Excluded with a reason: blocked by robots, soft 404, duplicate without canonical, server error. Fix the page in Search Console, then watch Analytics traffic appear.
Core Web Vitals at scale
Lighthouse runs in your browser. Search Console aggregates Core Web Vitals scores from real visitors across every URL on your site, grouped by Good, Needs improvement, and Poor. Use it to identify pages that are slow for real users, not just slow on your laptop.
Manual actions and security issues
If a human at Google manually penalizes your site, you find out in Search Console. Analytics has no way to surface this, and you will only see traffic vanish without explanation.
