Hand a workspace to a client
Agencies build on adlens for clients all the time, and the last step of every engagement is handing over the keys. Make owner transfers the whole workspace, and it is built so the agency is never locked out mid-project.
What Make owner does
On the People panel, every accepted member's row carries a Make owner button behind a two-click confirm. Pressing it hands the entire workspace to that member: they become the owner of record.
Ownership carries real weight. Renaming the workspace, plan checkout, and the billing portal all follow the owner of record, so once the transfer lands, the plan and the bill are the new owner's to manage from their own login. If they had no default workspace before, this one becomes the workspace they land in when they sign in.
You stay in the room
The previous owner does not get pushed out. You stay on as a member with the owner role, so you can keep designing, publishing, and fixing things right through the handoff. When the engagement ends, the new owner can remove you from the People panel, or you can step away on your own schedule.
The agency-to-client handoff, in order
First, design and build the site in your own workspace, the way you always do.
Second, invite the client from the People panel. They must accept the invite; Make owner only appears on accepted members, never on pending ones.
Third, press Make owner on their row and confirm. The workspace, the plan, and the billing are now theirs, and you are still a member with full access to finish the work.
When it does not work
No Make owner button on a row means the member has not accepted their invite yet. The transfer only goes to accepted members, so chase the invite first.
If the button does nothing for you, check whose account you are in: only the current owner of record can transfer ownership. A member with the owner role who is not the owner of record cannot pass the workspace along.
This is one of the few things the assistant cannot do for you. Ownership changes hands on the People panel at /app/team, by your own click, on purpose.
