The visitor chat AI gave a wrong answer
The visitor AI knows exactly one thing: your published knowledge base articles. Nothing else. That makes a wrong answer easy to trace and fast to fix, because the fix is always an article.
Where its answers come from
The AI that answers visitors on your site reads only the knowledge base articles you have published. It does not answer from your products, your pages, or the wider internet. If it said something wrong, one of your articles says something wrong, or no article covers the question and it stretched a related one.
Drafts do not count. An article sitting in draft is invisible to the AI, so publishing is part of the fix.
Fix the article, and the fix is instant
Open the Inbox settings, find the article behind the wrong answer, and correct it, or write the missing article. The correction takes effect on the very next visitor message. There is no training step, no re-sync, no delay: the AI reads your published articles live, every time it answers.
That means the loop is tight: read the conversation where the wrong answer happened, fix the article it came from, and the next visitor who asks gets the right answer.
What happens when there is no answer
When a question genuinely has no article behind it, the AI does not guess. It hands the conversation to you: the thread lands under Assigned in your Inbox and you get a notification. The same handoff happens when a visitor asks for a human, and if the AI itself hits an error, so a visitor is never left hanging.
Those handed-off threads are your best source of missing articles. Each one is a real question a real visitor asked that your knowledge base could not answer yet. Answer the visitor, then turn the answer into an article so the AI handles it next time.
When answers still seem off
If the AI keeps giving an answer you already fixed, check that you edited the published article and not a draft copy, and that the article is actually published. If two articles contradict each other, the AI has no way to know which one you meant: delete or correct the stale one. And if you want the AI to stop answering entirely while you rework the knowledge base, turn AI replies off in the Inbox settings; the messenger keeps working and every message comes straight to you.
