Connect a domain you own
Your site can live on your own domain. Connecting one takes a few minutes in the Domains panel plus a short visit to your registrar, and the panel writes out the exact records for you.
Before you start
Custom domains are part of Pro. On the free plan the Domains panel shows an upgrade dialog instead of connecting.
You also need to be able to sign in wherever the domain is registered, because the last step is adding DNS records there.
Connect the domain
Open Settings and go to the Domains panel. At the top sits one composer with two chips: Existing domain and Get a new domain. Stay on Existing domain, type the domain you own into the field, and press Connect. That saves the domain and runs a first verify right away.
The Finish setup card
While the domain is unverified, a Finish setup card appears under the composer. It does not hand you generic instructions: it detects who hosts your DNS and spells out the exact records in the shape your actual registrar accepts.
There are two routes. The nameserver route points your domain's nameservers at ns1.vercel-dns.com and ns2.vercel-dns.com; the card warns you first if the domain receives email, because moving nameservers would interrupt it. The records route leaves your nameservers alone and adds two records instead: a pointing record (CNAME, ALIAS, or A, whichever your registrar takes) plus a TXT ownership record at _adlens.
Every value on the card has a copy button, so the registrar side is paste work, not typing.
Verify it
Once the records are in at your registrar, press Verify now on the card. That runs the real DNS, hosting, and SSL machinery, not a cosmetic check. The domain's row shows a Pending chip until verification passes and a Verified chip after, and a verified domain gains a Make primary action.
If you would rather not touch DNS
The Finish setup card has an AI setup help button. It hands the whole job to the assistant in chat, with your domain, the detected provider, and the exact records already filled into the conversation. The assistant walks you through your registrar's screens step by step.
When it does not verify
The row stays Pending after you added the records: DNS changes take time to propagate, sometimes minutes, sometimes longer depending on the registrar. Press Verify now again after waiting. If it still fails, reopen the Finish setup card and compare every record against what you entered, especially the TXT record's _adlens host.
Your email stopped working after connecting: you took the nameserver route on a domain that handles mail. Move back to your registrar's nameservers and use the records route instead, which leaves your mail records untouched.
You see an upgrade dialog instead of the composer: custom domains are Pro. Upgrade first, then connect.
