Buy a new domain
You can search for and buy a brand-new domain without leaving the Domains panel. It comes connected, with no DNS work at all.
Where buying lives
The Domains panel's composer has two chips: Existing domain and Get a new domain. Switch to Get a new domain and the same field becomes a search box against the registrar.
Search, pick, pay
Type the name you want. The panel lists the available names with their yearly price. Pick one, fill in the registrant details it asks for, and finish in the hosted checkout. Buying is part of Pro, the same as connecting a domain you already own.
After the purchase
A newly bought domain attaches to your primary site. There is no DNS to configure, because the domain was registered on the right infrastructure from the start.
When buying is not available
The Get a new domain chip is missing: no registrar is configured for search, so the chip retires itself and the composer stays on Existing domain. You can still buy the domain at any registrar you like and connect it through the Existing domain chip; the Finish setup card will write out the records for you.
You are on the free plan: buying is Pro-gated like connecting, so the upgrade dialog appears first.
You want the domain on a different site than the primary one: connecting always attaches it to the primary site, and each row in the Domains panel names the site it serves. Ask the assistant to move it; changing which site a domain belongs to is a confirmed change, so you approve it in chat before it runs.
