Themes that are real code
On converted themes, applying a theme no longer just tags your site with a style. It writes the theme's whole design into your site as files you own, which means nothing about the design is out of reach anymore.
What converted means
The converted themes today are sana, den, wren, momentum, titan, alder, and the shops vega, volt, opal, marl, meru, plaza, aurum, and crumb. Applying one of these writes the theme's own design into the site as real files: a stylesheet, one component per section of the design, and one file per page, then queues a build.
The design is extracted from the theme, not redrawn, so the result looks exactly like the theme you picked. From the moment the files land, the site is an ordinary project site.
Why this matters
The old answer on themed sites was: the theme controls the look, so you can change the text but not the button's colour. On a converted site that answer is dead. The button's colour is a line in a stylesheet your site owns. The section's spacing is a line in a component file your site owns. Everything is editable, in the Code tab or by asking the AI to change it.
You never need to rebuild a site from scratch to change one design detail. The design is already yours, edit the line.
Two guardrails to know about
First: applying a theme to a site that already holds a project is refused, not allowed to overwrite. Those files are your work, and a theme apply that silently replaced them would destroy it. If you genuinely want to start over from a theme, start a new site or accept that the apply replaces what is there.
Second: on a converted site, the browser-tab title of each page comes from the site's route list, not from index.html. This surprises people who go looking for a title tag.
When it does not work
The theme apply is refused: your site already holds a project. That refusal is protecting your files. Apply the theme to a new draft site instead, or decide explicitly that you want to replace what is there.
You edited index.html and the browser tab did not change: tab titles on converted sites live in the route list, adlens.routes.json. Edit the title fields there, one per page, and the next build stamps them in.
A theme behaves the old way, with section-by-section editing and no files: that theme has not been converted yet. It still works exactly as it always did, and converted behaviour arrives when the theme does.
