Platform fees explained
adlens takes a small platform fee on paid orders so the free tier can stay strong. Here is the exact math, what is free, and the one pricing mistake to avoid.
The rates
Products carry 2% plus a $0.30 flat fee per order. The flat fee is per order, not per item, so a cart with five products pays $0.30 once.
Tickets carry 5% with no per-ticket flat fee. Free and RSVP tickets are always $0 fee: if no money moves, adlens takes nothing.
How the fee is computed
When an order mixes products and tickets, the fee computes across both subtotals, each at its own rate. Discounts are allocated proportionally: a discount code reduces the product subtotal and the ticket subtotal in proportion, and the fee is figured on what the buyer actually paid.
Organizers can pass the fee to buyers per event. Turn that on and the fee is added on top of the ticket price at checkout instead of coming out of your revenue. It is a per-event choice, so a community fundraiser and a premium conference in the same workspace can handle it differently.
The cheap-ticket trap
Watch ticket prices under about $3. Payment processing carries its own flat fee per charge, and on a very cheap ticket that flat fee dominates the math. In the worst case the fees exceed what the charge can cover and the charge can fail outright. If your ticket is worth less than $3, consider making it free or bundling it into a higher-priced tier.
Fees and refunds
Platform service fees are never refunded. When you refund a buyer, the buyer gets their money back, but the platform fee on that order stays collected. Price your refund policy with that in mind.
When the numbers look wrong
The fee on an order looks too high: check whether the order mixed products and tickets. The two rates apply to their own subtotals, and the $0.30 flat fee applies once when products are present.
A discounted order's fee does not match a straight percentage of the sticker price: that is the proportional discount allocation. The fee is computed on the discounted amounts, not the list prices.
A charge on a very cheap ticket failed: that is the under-$3 problem above. Raise the price, make the ticket free, or pass the fee to buyers so the charge covers its own costs.
