Payment plans (instalments)
Payment plans let a student pay for a course as a deposit plus scheduled instalments that charge automatically. You define one template, the student's schedule freezes at consent, and non-payment is handled by pausing access, never by fees.
One template per course
You define one plan template per course: a deposit plus N weekly or monthly instalments, set in the course's edit page. Students agree to the plan on the public course page.
The moment a student consents, their schedule is frozen as a snapshot. Later edits to the template never change an existing student's plan. You can restructure the plan for future students at any time without touching a promise you already made.
How charges run
Instalments auto-charge the student's saved card on schedule. Each successful charge lands as a normal order with the kind installment, so instalment revenue shows in your orders and finance rollups like any other sale.
Late fees and interest are deliberately impossible. The platform will not let you charge a student extra for being late. The lever for non-payment is pausing course access while the plan is past due, which gets attention without compounding anyone's debt.
Plan statuses
A plan runs pending_deposit, then active, then completed. Along the way it can be past_due while a failed charge is retrying, canceled if it is called off, or defaulted if it never recovers. Past_due is not final: the system retries, and the student can settle the failed charge themselves.
What students manage themselves
Each student gets a personal portal at adlens.pro/plan/<token>, where they see their schedule, update their card, and retry a failed charge. Most billing problems resolve there without you doing anything: a student with an expired card updates it and pays the missed instalment in one sitting.
When it does not work
You do not see payment plan options on your course at all: payment plans are a feature flag, off by default until enabled. If the sections are missing from your course editor, the flag is not on for your workspace yet.
A charge failed and the plan shows past_due: the system is retrying, and the student can also fix it directly at their adlens.pro/plan/<token> portal. Point them there first.
You edited the plan template but a student's schedule did not change: that is the snapshot working as intended. Consented schedules never change. The new template applies only to students who sign up after the edit.
You want to waive an instalment or cancel a student's plan: those are money actions, so they happen in the dashboard, not through the AI assistant. The assistant can read the plan's full state and point you to the right place.
