Deposits for courses
A deposit lets a student hold a seat with a small payment now and the rest later. Deposits have four states, a personal pay link, one automatic reminder, and a seven-day grace period, and every settled deposit is just an order.
The four states
Every deposit is in one of four states: unpaid, paid, waived, or refunded. Unpaid means the student enrolled but has not settled the deposit yet. Paid means the money is in. Waived means you let the student in without one. Refunded means you gave it back.
The unpaid deposit's life
An unpaid deposit gets a personal bearer pay link at adlens.pro/enroll/pay/<token>. The student opens the link and pays, no login required: whoever holds the link can settle it.
The system sends one reminder email 3 days before the deposit is due. If the deposit goes 7 days past due, it expires: the seat is released, but nothing is deleted. The student's enrollment record stays, so you can always reach out and re-open the door.
A paid deposit is just an order
A settled deposit is an ordinary order with the kind deposit. It shows in your orders tab and your finance rollups like any sale, so there is no separate ledger to reconcile. Search the order, see the payment, done.
When deposit checkout turns on
Deposit checkout only self-activates when three things are true: you toggled it on for the course, at least one payable option exists, and charges are enabled on your payment account. Miss any one of the three and students simply enroll without being offered a deposit.
When it does not work
Students enroll but nobody is asked for a deposit: check the three activation conditions. The deposit toggle must be on in the course's edit page, there must be at least one payable option, and /app/payments must show charges enabled.
A student says their pay link stopped working: the deposit likely expired 7 days past due. The seat was released but the record survives, so you can follow up with the student directly.
A student never paid and never got chased: the system sends exactly one reminder, 3 days before due. If you want more nudges than that, send them yourself.
You cannot find a deposit in your finances: look in the orders tab for an order of kind deposit. Paid deposits live with the rest of your sales.
