The AI that answers your visitors
When a visitor opens the messenger, an AI answers first, using only the help articles you published. It knows when to speak, when to stay quiet, and when to hand the conversation to you.
Where its answers come from
The visitor AI answers only from your published knowledge base articles. It fetches them live on every message, so what it says is always the current text of your articles, nothing more and nothing less.
This is a deliberate constraint. The AI cannot improvise facts about your business, your prices, or your policies. If your articles do not cover a question, it does not guess: it hands the thread to you.
When it speaks and when it stands down
The AI only speaks while no human has joined the thread. The moment you reply to a conversation, it stands down for that thread permanently. It will not talk over you or jump back in after you have taken over.
New threads start with the AI again, so you only ever silence it one conversation at a time, by replying.
The handoff
Three things hand a thread to your team: a visitor asks for a human, the knowledge base cannot answer the question, or the AI itself hits an error. In every case the thread lands under the Assigned tab in /app/inbox and you get a notification.
The point of the error case is that a visitor is never left hanging. A broken AI reply becomes your conversation, not a dead end.
Every chat where the visitor left an email is also captured as a lead, so the conversation feeds your list even when it stays short.
What it costs
Each AI reply costs about 0.1 credits, drawn from your Run balance, the pool that covers AI working without you in the loop. A hundred and fifty answered visitor questions is roughly fifteen credits.
When the answers are wrong or missing
If the AI gives a wrong answer, the fix is always the article, not the AI. Find the article that covers the topic, correct it, and the very next visitor message is answered from the corrected text. There is no retraining step and no delay.
If the AI keeps handing off questions you expected it to answer, the knowledge base does not cover them, or the article that does is still a draft. Only published articles reach the AI: check the article's status in /app/inbox settings.
If AI replies stop entirely, check your credit balance. At zero, new AI work pauses while your sites stay live, and fresh daily credits land at midnight UTC. Threads still reach you under Assigned, so nothing is lost, you are just answering in person until the balance refills.
