Ticket tiers, sale windows, and sequential release
One event can sell many kinds of ticket: early bird, GA, VIP, each with its own price, cap, and on-sale window. A tier can even go on sale automatically when the one before it sells out.
What a tier is
Every event holds ticket tiers. A tier has a name, a price, a quantity cap, a max per order, and a description. That is enough to run an early bird at $20 capped at 50 tickets, a GA at $30, and a VIP at $75 limited to 2 per order, all on the same event page.
You add and edit tiers in the event manager at /app/events/:id/edit, or ask the assistant: "add a VIP tier at $75, 40 tickets, max 2 per order" and it is done.
Sale windows
Each tier can carry its own on-sale window: a sale start and a sale end. Outside the window the tier is not purchasable. Use this for a real early bird that ends on a date, or a door-price tier that only opens the day of the show.
Sale windows belong to tiers, not to the event. Moving the event's date does not move any tier's window, so if you reschedule, review your windows too.
Sequential release
A tier can be set to release after another tier: it stays off sale until the referenced tier sells out, then goes on sale on its own. The classic use is releasing VIP after GA, or chaining early bird into GA so the next price appears the moment the last cheap ticket goes.
This removes the 2 a.m. manual toggle. You set the chain once and the event runs its own pricing ladder.
Deactivate, do not delete
Deleting a tier fails once it has sold tickets. That is deliberate: those buyers hold real tickets, and deleting the tier under them would break what they paid for.
When you want a tier gone from the page, deactivate it instead. A deactivated tier stops selling immediately, and every ticket already sold stays valid for check-in.
When it does not work
A tier is not showing on the event page: check three things. Its sale window may not have opened yet, it may be waiting on a release tier that has not sold out, or it may be deactivated. Any of the three keeps it off the page.
I cannot delete a tier: it has sold tickets, and that is the protection working. Deactivate it and it disappears from sale while existing tickets stay good.
A tier stopped selling on its own: it hit its quantity cap or its sale end passed. Raise the cap or extend the window in the event manager if you want it back on sale.
